Professional’s Skills

According to the National Council of Education, CNE/CES 11, of March 11, 2002, who established the national curriculum guidelines of undergraduate engineering courses, the training process of an engineer aims to provide the professional knowledge required for the engineering exercise, with the following Professional’s Skills:

  • Apply mathematical, scientific, technological and instrumental knowledges to the engineering;
  • Design and conduct experiments as well as results interpretation;
  • To conceive, design and analyze systems, products and processes;
  • Plan, supervise, develop and coordinate projects and engineering services;
  • To identify, formulate and solve engineering problems;
  • Develop and / or utilize new tools and techniques;
  • To supervise the systems operation and maintenance;
  • Critically evaluatethe systems operation and maintenance;
  • Communicate effectively in written, oral and graphic forms;
  • To act in multidisciplinary teams;
  • Understand and apply professional ethics and responsibility;
  • To assess the impact of engineering activities on the social and environmental context;
  • To assess the economic feasibility of engineering projects;
  • Take the attitude of constant pursuit for professional development.

The graduate of the bachelor’s program in Automotive Engineering can carry out activities in the following areas:

  • Evaluate, deploy, manage and maintain systems involving technological knowledge in the various areas involved in a process of development and updating of an automobile, its components and systems;
  • To plan, implement and monitor projects of automotive systems, sub-assemblies and autoparts;
  • Identify possibilities and limitations, proposing solutions before the problems detected during the various stages of the development of automotive products, by applying the existing scientific and technological knowledge in the area;
  • Desing of support systems to the manufacturing process of automotive systems, sub-assemblies and autoparts;
  • Management and analysis of vehicle’s tests ;
  • Management and development of manufacturing processes and assembly sets;
  • Apply standards and in force legislation in the field of Automotive Engineering, that impact on their area of training focused on the field of industry;
  • Analyze impacts of security actions and public health, environment and business processes as well as in the production chain in the industry;
  • Prepare and interpret technical documentation, scaling resources and analyzing project implementation costs;
  • To propose improvement solutions in functionality, operation, development and production of automotive components and systems
  • Analysis of economic and environmental viability of process and mechanical fabrication.
